"The location was very close to everything including Sheplers Ferry. The Crown doesnt offer breakfast but you can get coupons at the front desk for 2-1 at the Toast- a-go-go restaurant close to the hotel. Rooms were clean."

"We were a party of 6, staying only for one night. I had read previous reviews and was a bit uneasy. However, when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived before check-in which was a couple of hours early. The man at the front desk was nice and we completed the paperwork. He told us to return at 4 pm to get the keys. So we drove downtown and walked around for a while. We came back and picked up the keys. We had a two bedroom cabin with a jacuzzi bathroom. The cabin was fairly clean. The important items were clean such as the bedding and bathroom. There were some cob webs and it was a bit dusty but I had brought my own cleaning supplies in anticipation. The cabins in the front where we were staying seemed to be full so being able to park in front of our actual cabin didnt happen but we didnt have much luggage so that was fine. We wished there was another chair or two by the dining table. You have a cabin for at least six and only two chairs. Also, a side table by the couch/pullout sofa would be nice for putting drinks on. The outside table and chairs were great to sit and look at the water on the front patio of the cabin. Other than needing a bit of dusting, the cabin was really nice with a pretty view of the water."

"The location is great and the staff is friendly and attentive. The room had an icky wet spot on the floor that didn\'t dry. One of the rooms, in the cabin, had a mirror, but not the second room. And the shower lacked enough hooks to hang multiple towels to dry. Most importantly, the shower has absolutely no shelves for hygiene products. It is unpleasant to put everything on the floor of the shower. This place worked for my trip, but small additions would make it more comfortable."

"The location was ideal, almost directly across from the ferry docks. Our cabin was spacious, clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly. We will stay here again!"

"Great Value! Clean room at a great location with a lake view for a low price compared to other hotels nearby.Coffee was available 24 hours, however it was weak. Not enough towels in room, however they were available when we asked. Walking distance to dinner was a plus as well. Free Breakfast seemed a bit chaotic so we stayed away from that. All in all, I would stay here again and recommend it for $savings."

"The hotel is in a beautiful location, on the beach of lake Huron with wonderful views. Directly next to the pier for the island ferry. Not far from the downtown area, had to drive. The room was nice but dated. When we arrived the microwave and refridgerator were not working, called the front desk and they replaced both appliances. Good coffee!"

"The room wasn\'t as nice as pictures indicated- there were some things broken, and it smelled a little funky. The refrigerator leaked. The AC was incredibly loud and blew directly onto one side of the bed so we had to turn it off at night so he wouldn\'t freeze and the noise wouldn\'t keep us awake.the view was nice though."

"The room was a little worn. The bed was a little firm for my taste. The bathroom and fixtures were very outdated. Lighting in the bathroom was awful. Updating the light would help, looked like a 70s throwback. The peeling wallpaper throughout the room was a turnoff. Also, we came during midge (little mosquito like bugs) season so we spent 30 minutes killing all of the ones in our room the first night. The floors were nice having been recently redone as well as the room furniture. The atmosphere was friendly and the location was perfect."

"Although this hotel is a little outdated we have been staying there every year for over 30 years. If we ever need anything the front desk is very accommodating. This year we had the pleasure of meeting Marc the manager there. He was so pleasant and really made us feel welcomed. Can\'t wait to return next year for our yearly trip and hope Marc is still there."

"My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The rooms are recently updated and very comfortable, but the real standout was our lakefront room. Stepping onto the balcony to views of the island and the bridge was worth the trip on its own. We\'ll absolutely be staying here again and highly recommend requesting a lakefront room."

"We liked the location and cost for the room. We were close enough to downtown to enjoy the shops, but still had privacy without feeling crowded in. The room was clean, but the furniture was outdated and the couch had seen better days. We enjoyed the pool and the staff was helpful and friendly. However, the room with the ice machine had tons of spider webs coming from the ceiling. Enough spiders to give anyone Arachnophobia. It needed a good cleaning. The hotel is pet friendly which is a bonus. We would stay here again. We did get waterpark passes, but did not use them."

"Location was easy to access and close to everything. Hotel is a little dated but honestly that fits the great price. If you are expecting luxury and amenities this isnt the place for you. That being said the room was clean, very well stocked, and very spacious. The pool was close by and not busy. The hotel was quiet. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again. If value and a solid place to stay are on your list this is the place. Beds appeared to be new. We had read some reviews about bugs and that was not a problem. There was absolutely no issue with our room at all. Everything was clean and functional."

"The Thunderbird was super! We really enjoyed the Jacuzzi! The floor probably couldve been cleaner, but everything else was super duper and it was so close to where we watched the fireworks on 4 July, which was our 15th wedding anniversary, and the shopping was so close on Central Avenue. The property was really nice! And the access from the local roads and the highway was upstanding! Parking was also great!"

"Comfy bed, great views, large room, balcony with two chairs, quiet, great water pressure in the shower- we had a great stay and would definitely stay again. We had room 25 upstairs facing the lake and the bridge. Only thing that couldve been better was the AC unit which was in the bathroom and struggled to keep up with the hot day. But we opened the windows at night and it was cool enough to sleep!"

"Everything was incredible, newly renovated room, employees were cool to talk to, great location right by st ignace for the car show. Only slight issue was difficulty finding parking but thats to be expected with all the car show traffic."

"Quiet, mostly restful, comfortable. At the room rate we paid we were surprised to learn our accommodations included a private balcony overlooking the strait. There were a few noisy guests with a dog downstairs but we attempted to mask the noise using the in room fan. Overall we were pleased with our stay."

"The hotel was fine but the most extraordinary thing was the lady on the reception. She was a great human being and helped me and my family immensely, in every way she could. Unfortunately doesn\'t her name but wanted to give a very big shout out for something specifically that she did for us. The room that I booked in this hotel was having just a queen bed which was a mistake to book and which understandably couldn\'t accommodate all my family (five persons, two adults and 3 kids). When I went inside and noticed how small it was I went back to her and informed that I didn\'t realize that the room would be so small for which she replied that she herself was surprised why I chose such a small room. I explained that it was my mistake and I didn\'t pay too much attention while I was making reservation. That nice lady without asking me upgraded to a bigger room and made this whole experience so awesome. Thanks to her."

"Motel was fairly clean. Beds were decently comfortable. Bathroom was spotless which was a huge bonus. Only complaint was it was slightly musty which is to be expected as Im sure theyre shut down for a majority of the year due to winter. But overall it was pretty good. However, there is access to the 2 water parks in the town and I DO NOT recommend either one. Went to check out both and they are both not only dated but the water at both was cloudy and dingy looking. You could not see your feet if you were brave enough to go in the water. The emerald cove one said it had waterslides which it did but they were blocked off and the pool beneath them was empty and gross looking. Also the lazy river was also cloudy and yellowish brown looking. I wouldnt let my child in either one especially since I wouldnt venture into either one as well. Mind you, we stayed the first weekend in August so you should think that they would be up to date and busy."

Ton of construction - not their fault, difficult to navigate accessing the property, property wasnt forecoming amenities information. Reactive to maintenance issues. For the price the facility/room it was fine. Now Location on the water was a dream. And I was able to just block out everything else and watch the sunset!"

"This is not your luxury, 5 star motel, but a classic Mom and Pop. It is removed from the hustle and bustle of the congested area of Mackinaw City, which is part of the allure. It is an older facility, I have been coming for 30+ years. It is clean, and as week kept as an older place can be. The desk people are warm and friendly. The sheets were some of the best. There are chairs and lakeside campfires and the views are amazing."

"The Cabins are located within walking distance to shops and restaurants up and down the main thoroughfare. My friend and I chose one of the free-standing 2 bedroom/2 tv cabins as it provided privacy for both of us. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked. We would definitely stay again!"
