I must admit we came in late in the day after a long drive (from Toronto, Ontario) so we were tired too. The room, balcony/patio and such were outstanding. We went on the internet to find a place to stay. This place was rated among the best so we chose this place. The room we reserved was a two double bed with a lake balcony. The room was very clean and neat and the view was great. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best that we have ever had. The location was convenient to places to eat and to shop and to take the ferries. We loved being next to the state park and pier. Everyone we dealt with at the hotel was courteous and helpful. Free waterpark was geared towards young children, not our teenagers but that was ok. Someone was smoking outside on the beach, because at about 11pm suddenly our room smelled like smoke (we had the sliding door open). Again, not the hotels fault. We enjoyed the free laser show. Front desk personnel were efficient and business-like. Rates seemed high, but I suppose it's like that in all nicer hotels in Mackinaw in the summer. We had a small 4th-floor balcony which we enjoyed. It was awesome to be able to have the window/door open at night for ventilation since it was cool outside. Very nice beach and lounge chairs. Breakfast bar was good, and was kept well-stocked. We were there during a cooler week, but the temperature in the breakfast room was uncomfortably warm.
