Running and talking very loud at 6 in the morning. Where were the chaperons? Other than that the hotel was clean and the breakfast was awesome. Front desk people were very helpful. The room was clean and had a large balcony. There were a few quirks: the remote for the TV did not function properly; the heater dropped to 55 degrees and began pumping out cold air in the middle of the night; at check in the receptionist didn’t mention we needed wrist bands for the water park, which resulted in my husband running outside to the front desk in the snow to get our bands, we saw other families do the same thing. The bands were free with our stay, my children were with me at check in...it would be intuitive to assume we may use the water park and offer the bands at the time of check in. I remember asking online if they could anyway place my husband and myself in a balcony room as we were celebrating both our 10 year wedding anniversary and our 12 year wedding anniversary. She not only did that, she placed us on the first floor with a inside jacuzzi with a wonderful comfy king size bed with a big size indoor refrigerator with our first floor balcony overlooking the beautiful beach!! The general manager who was very helpful and might I add loving his job gave us great places to go to do things together as a couple and the amazing food they offer not only in the city but also on the island. The same wonderful lady who completely upgraded our room for free was also very helpful for ideas for food and entertainment that the city has. This, which I didn’t know until we went on the ferry to the island, that this was my Husband’s very first time coming up to this wonderful city and the island. Starting now to save my pennies so that this spring break 2019 my husband and I can come back to your hotel with our two children who are 15 years old (boy) and 10 year old (daughter) can also experience the same hotel, city and island!! The pool area is exception and is actually heated warm enough to get into without freezing. The breakfast is the equivalent to just about every other place in town though the room itself is more spacious than many of the other hotels in town. The room was clean and with the lake view room we had, Lake Huron was about ten yards from our balcony. Hearing the lake from our room was just as pleasant as seeing it. The beds were a bit on the hard side for me and seemed small even for a queen bed but that is a personal preference thing. The room was clean and had a nice bathroom. The beach area was in disarray. Most of the staff were not friendly and they all seemed pretty done and sick of the summer season...they were ready to move on to their next gig or go back to school.
