The only thing I would suggest is that they maintain the lines in the parking lot when possible. Nice clean rooms, lots of breakfast options and friendly staff. The bed however was a little firm for my liking and the balcony on our 4th floor room needed some attention. Room was exceptionally clean for the age of the hotel. This was one of the few hotels with a free and hot breakfast. Only small negative was the items at breakfast were not refilled in a timely manner. Our first morning we arrived at 8am to eat and the three cold beverage containers (water, juice) had about an inch in them, the pancakes were empty and the fruit bowl empty. People were standing there and nothing was refilled the entire time we were eating and lines of people were still coming in. Im still giving 5 stars because its not a big deal but its a large hotel and shouldnt be out of food. Very weird and humorous that someones hotel room was right in the middle of the breakfast room. Hamilton Inn Select Beachfront Mackinaw CityHamilton Inn Select Beachfront Cherylee from St George stayed in October 2025Upon entering the building there was a weird cleaning smell in the lobby. In our room there was a worse odor to the point after being there 10 minutes my lungs started closing up. We moved to a different room, then went out to dinner where I was breathing normally. Went back to the room, same issue with lungs. We had to find a different hotel and still had to pay for 2 nights at the Hamilton since the no cancellation period was in effect. My suspicion is that the issue was their cleaning products. If you have any sensitivity to chemicals do not stay there or at any of the other many hotels that are owned by that company in Mackinaw City (we looked at a few, also with strong chemical smells). We ended up in a mom and pop motel, which was dated but very clean and did not use harsh chemicals. Bed was not as comfortable as expected and we could hear the people walking above us. Room needs to be upgraded-too much dark furnitures and trim.Also, room had a musty smell and felt damp.Floor in the shower was somewhat slippery, almost like the cleaning solution was not rinsed properly. On the good side, the front desk people at check were friendly and welcoming. We did not see a need to contact the desk for any changes since we were there for only one night. The room we had was seated with a good view of the lake, very easy access to the parking lot, and a fantastic jacuzzi. The space, tv, lights, dresser and drawers, and bathroom were fantastic. The coffee maker was fine. The water pressure in the shower was a bit weak, but that's more of a preference. We loved the pool and the whole pool room. The temperature was incredible, and the hot tub was amazing. The breakfast was unfortunately fairly bland. It could have used bacon, sausagae, yogurt, or oatmeal. The seating space for the breakfast felt nice and clean though. There just weren't really many options of food, and things were starting to run out of quantity. The staff were fantastic. Wonderfully friendly, smart, and professional people all. They were great and welcoming and very helpful when we had any questions. The hotel was excellently clean, cozy, and such a happy place to be. We loved the proximity to the downtown too. We could walk just about anywhere, and parking in the hotel lot was easy. We're very grateful for this experience, and we do look forward to another trip here some day again. We appreciated the maid Angelita's work in the room. Thought the $167 price was fair. We did wonder whether the carpet had been vacuumed sufficiently as both my wife and I stepped into the shower and saw mud on floor.The breakfast room was not good. At 8:30 am or so there was almost no food available, nor was there any decaf coffee when I asked.
