The room was clean and well-appointed and the breakfast was nice, especially having some hot items (eggs, sausage, pancakes). The staff was very personable - hospitable and helpful. My only complaint is the pool and the hot tub were extremely dirty and the room that the pool and the hot tub were in was 130 like a sauna. We ate breakfast there, but we felt it could use some improvements on what is offered and a rotation would be nice so we didn't have the same options every morning. The pool was very cloudy our first day but cleared up by day 3. Someone from a youth group spilt ice cream along the pool deck which was still there the following evening which tells me the pool area isn't cleaned everyday. Location was nice and being right on the beach was convenient, however we were hoping for a cleaner beach area with more chairs. They have a sign offering lowest Ferry prices, online it said that the hotel is a discounted Ferry price, but the prices were the exact same as if we bought them directly from the ferry, which is a slight issue if your budgeting your trip ahead of time. The breakfast was great, but the layout is bad for how busy of a hotel it is. The front desk receptionist were absolutely welcoming, polite, friendly, cheerful and helpful. They welcomed us as soon as we stepped in the door, with a true smile. Gave us our information about our room, where several places for dining were located throughout the area. When we purchased our tickets for the Arnold Ferry, the young lady was very helpful with the schedule, where we would get on the ferry, (which was a very quick walk through the parking lot!!). Our room was beach facing with a great view. It was clean, really liked the sitting area, as the rooms are a bit narrow, so this gave us room to move around. Also, Sat. night fireworks were right out our window - that was cool. Couldn't really use the balcony because of these bugs that I guess are around in June. There were a lot of them. But you can't fault the hotel for this; they are everywhere. Just mentioning it in case someone sees this for a June visit. The only other thing I would point out is that the pool/Hot Tub is open until midnight; on the surface, that seems great. However, we were never able to use the hot tub as kids were always jumping in and out of both the pool and the hot tub. Consider the possibility of making it adult-only after 10:00 pm? Separate the different stations vs everything in one line, very poor set up. We had no microwave in our room and thought this was a norm, only found out should have been one all along. There should be a screen door to the balcony and storm door was difficult to open/close. One remote was missing for TV in second room. Internet access in the room was very poor and kept being kicked off WIFI. Waterpark was in another hotel and made for young kids. Water was never replaced in exercise room despite asking it to be.Was clean, would have had nice beach time if weather cooperated. Spa in room worked, staff was friendly. Overall OK, but wasn't worth the cost, need to improve the things mentioned, especially the breakfast set up, absolutely terrible.
